As UX designers, we all know that empathy for our users is paramount to successfully designing product interfaces that delight them. But what if the user is a know-it-all techno-phobic curmudgeon, a bumbling Larry The Cable Guy, or an oblivious neophyte? And what if there is a bureaucratic monolith between the UX researcher and these users? In this talk I will reveal my novel strategies to overcome the nearly insurmountable obstacles to accessing and pleasing very difficult personas.
